Shirt Printing Basics of Screen Printing

Shirt Printing BasicsHere is a general overview of the shirt printing basics of using the time tested screen printing technique. With this technique it is possible to produce thousands of different types of screen printed shirts and other types of apparel.

The first step in this process is to create your designs using a computer and a laser printer.

Then you make what is called a Film Positive by printing the design onto a piece of paper or translucent film.

Next, you need to transfer your image from the Film Positive to the screen.

Then you develop the exposed screen in water making a stencil that ink will pass through when you print.

Now you are ready to print your shirts. Register your screens by aligning the image on the screen to the film positive and clamp the screens in place and use the micro-aligner to finalize it and print your shirt.

Lastly, after the shirt is printed you need to cure the print with a conveyor dryer so that you get the best possible and longest lasting image.

How T Shirt Screen Printing Works

T Shirt Screen PrintingT shirt screen printing is an old technique that creates a sharp edged image on a t-shirt by using a stencil so that every shirt comes out the same. Through screen printing you are able to produce high quality images with a handmade feel on many different printing mediums because this technique very versatile and can be used on many different types of materials.

When screen printing t-shirts, the ink is directly embedded into the fabric and the fabric absorbs the ink and actually gets dyed that color, resulting in a very smooth feel. This smooth feel is created because the ink has actually been embedded within the shirt instead of sitting on top of it which often causes irritation to the wearer of the shirt.

The Invention of the Printing Press Had a Major Impact on Society

Invention of the Printing PressThe invention of the printing press in Germany during the 1440s by Johannes Gutenberg had a major impact on society and the world as we know it today. The printing press allowed for the first ever mass production of printed books in Europe, which had previously been done hand and was an extremely time consuming process.

Nobody envisioned at the time that this invention would pave the way for the social and industrial revolutions that followed across the globe and would help shape society into the world we live in today. This printing technology stood the test of time and was used up until the later part of the 20th century.
